Flag of the Swedish Socialist Party (Kilbommare Faction)

The Kilbommare were an anti-Stalinist faction of the Swedish Communist Party that eventually split off into it’s own separate party called the “Socialist Party”. The party was led by Karl Kilbom who was opposed to Stalin’s authoritarian rule, Kilbom’s critiques of Stalin resonated with many left-wing Swedes causing a break-away group of Social Democrats to merge with the party.

The Socialist Party saw a drastic change in direction when Swedish Communist Nils Flyg took over, he saw Nazi Germany as the Soviet’s Unions best chance to destroy Stalin’s power and so the party produced pro-German propaganda and worked with Swedish Nazi groups. In the later stages of the Second World War the party received funding from Nazi Germany, despite being pro-Nazi Flyg and the Socialist Party still claimed to be dedicated to communism. Their flag stands out from other communist flags as it lacks the hammer and sickle showing it’s opposition to the Soviet Union’s authoritarian styled communism.
